Berwickshire Housing Association (BHA) is sponsoring the visit of award winning illustrator Jill Calder to the Friends of Duns Primary School’s Book Sale, organised to coincide with 2019 World Book Day 2019, on Friday, March 8th.
World Book Day is a registered charity in its own right on a mission to give every child and young person a book of their own.
FDPS have had book contributions from children, parents and the community of Duns – from fact to fiction and from fishing, looking after hens, cooking and space exploration to Enid Blyton, Debi Gliori, Cressida Cowell, Celia Ahern and Boris Johnson. There is something for everyone – babies, children, students and adults alike.
FDPS are also delighted to be able to offer two talks, suitable for all ages. Firstly at 1:30-2:30 pm, ‘Illustrating the World’ with Jill Calder, illustrator and Letterer sponsored by the Berwickshire Housing Association.
Jill Calder, award winning illustrator of ‘The Picture Atlas’ will help you investigate the world like never before in this interactive live drawing event culminating in an epic team drawing!
Secondly at 3pm Bestselling Local Author Lisa Hobman, sponsored by LH Editing will give a short talk about writing and editing books.
As well as pre-loved books, FDPS are able to offer new stationery provided by Albany Gifts Duns and Liz Zimmerman Cards, new Usbourne books from Cheeky Monkey Independent and Scholastic books from The Book Tree.
There will also be a raffle with National Book Token and Amazon Prizes kindly sponsored by Fleming Homes, Seed & Co and Aitken-Walker Cars.
The FDPS Books sale will be held on Friday, March 8th, from 1-5pm at Duns Primary School. Come and browse and buy the selection of second-hand books, all individually for sale under £1, whilst enjoying some refreshments and home baking provided by FDPS.
