In June last year we received £78,200 from the Supporting Communities Fund to help support the work of local organisations during the Covid-19 pandemic.The funding was established by Scottish Government to provide community anchor organisations, such as charities, voluntary organisations, Housing Associations and social enterprises, to help support local responses during these challenging times.We continue to work with the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) to further develop an understanding of social value as an approach to measuring impact locally with the newly introduced Social Value Toolkit. A trip down memory lane . . . 2016 . . . 25 years of Creating Thriving Rural Communities!In 2016, we turned 21 and celebrated with a garden party at our Head Office in Duns. Staff, tenants, Board members and volunteers, both past and present got together to celebrate our successes over the last 2 decades.Gowanlea Court, our Independent living complex in Coldstream also celebrated a birthday in 2016, as it turned 40. To mark the occasion residents and staff gathered to celebrate with a buffet lunch and were entertained with live music from Perfect Harmony.It was an exciting time at our windfarm at Hoprigshiels as the turbine foundations were completed, the windfarm was on track to be connected to the grid and generating clean energy in early 2017.We were delighted that 12 of our staff completed the ‘Releasing Potential’ programme with Silverback Coaching. The innovative programme of six workshops was designed to enhance goal setting, defeat overwhelm, overcome procrastination and boost productivity.
