Our Executive team

Michelle joined Berwickshire Housing Association (BHA) as their Chief Executive in November 2020 with 24 years’ experience in the social housing sector having previously worked in a variety of roles.

Michelle is passionate about everyone having the right to a decent home and a good quality of life and believes Housing Associations have a key role to play in achieving both of these outcomes in the communities in which they serve.

Throughout her career Michelle has been heavily involved in the domestic abuse and wider safeguarding agenda as she believes the social housing sector has a unique role to play in any effective coordinated community response.

Michelle is involved with a number of organisations in a non-executive capacity including The Sunderland Music Hub Board and CIH Scotland Housing Education Steering Group.

Michelle is a qualified coach and mentor and actively supports others in relation to this.

In her spare time Michelle enjoys walking, going on holiday and is a member of a local brass band.

Dan is the Executive Director of Customer Experience within Berwickshire Housing Association. He brings over 15 years’ experience within the social housing sector and very much attributes his commitment to the sector being centred on the meaningful nature of the work we do. He has worked in senior leadership roles across Glasgow, West Lothian and Edinburgh within smaller community led housing associations as well as the to Wheatley Group (Scotland’s largest housing and care provider).

He currently leads and oversees the strategic delivery of Neighbourhood Services, Asset Management, Community Initiatives, Communications and the wider Customer Engagement. Dan works closely alongside key partners and stakeholders to deliver BHA’s vision and strategic aims, these include collaborations with other Housing Providers, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Health and Third Sector Interfaces. He represents BHA at Strategic Steering and Planning groups such as the Public Protection Committee, Health & Homelessness Strategic Partnership and the Borders Resilience Network, amongst other key agendas.

He is Chair of the Scottish Advisory Board for Housemark and a Non-Executive Director on Housing Options Scotland Board. Dan is a proud housing professional and corporate member of Chartered Institute of Housing

Richard is Executive Director for Business Support at BHA, joining the organisation in August 2023. He has overall responsibility for the delivery of accountancy and finance services within BHA and to our group entities.

Richard is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), being admitted to membership in 2004. He started his accountancy career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he progressed to audit manager, working across a range of public sector, corporate and not-for-profit clients, including housing associations.

Richard has held senior finance roles across all sectors including private sector companies such as Sage Plc and Mayborn Group, public sector, in Nexus and in the housing sector with Isos Housing (now Karbon) in the north-east of England. He is passionate about making a difference within the housing sector.

In his spare time, Richard is a keen outdoor enthusiast, enjoying walking and hiking along the Northumberland coast and the Lake District, as well as mountain biking in the Scottish Borders.
