Garages and Lock-ups Garages and Lock-ups
We have a number of garages and lock-ups available to rent in communities throughout Berwickshire. While there are waiting lists for some garages, they are available to rent by both association tenants and non-tenants.
If you are interested in renting a garage you should contact your nearest housing office in either Duns, Coldstream or Eyemouth. You will then be given a simple application form to complete, and your name will be added to the list for the site(s) you are interested in.
- When allocating garages we simply work down the relevant site list, and let by date order, except that we give priority to Association tenants over people who are not Association tenants.
- Where there is a waiting list we normally restrict garages to one per household.
- Before offering a garage to an existing tenant we check the applicant’s rent account, and we would not usually let a garage to a tenant who is in arrears.
- In addition to our garages, we also have a number of sites where you can erect your own garage, subject to your obtaining planning consent from the Council.
- We make a small annual charge, or ground rent. Again, if you are interested in this, contact your local office.
